🔥 Passion Starts with a Choice — Not a Feeling
Passion isn’t an emotion. It’s born out of *choices* and *commitment*. Often, right actions will lead to right feelings. If you’re waiting to feel passionate before doing what’s right—you might be waiting forever.
So how do we ignite spiritual passion again?
How do we become new wineskins, ready for the “new wine” God wants to pour out?
🆕 Jesus Calls for New Wineskins
> *“No one pours new wine into old wineskins…” – Luke 5:36-39*
> *“Behold, I will do something NEW…” – Isaiah 43:19*
We often say we want new things—but do we have a life God can pour *newness* into?
> 💬 “Aren’t you sick of being challenged? Don’t you want to be changed?”
⚠Signs of an “Old Wineskin” Heart
1. Dry, Rigid, Stuck in Ruts
Comfortable in routines, unwilling to change.
2. Talented but Brittle
Talent ≠Anointing. It breaks easily when bumped.
– How easily offended are you? That may reveal more than you think.
3. Cracks on the Inside
May look strong outwardly—but spiritually empty.
4. No Flexibility
Unwilling to be stretched. Unwilling to die to self.
> 💀 You can’t make a wineskin without a dead animal.
> The more *dead* I am to self, the more *alive* Christ is in me.
âśť What Does It Mean to Truly Follow Jesus?
Christians were once called “People of the Way.”
People who carried their cross:
– 👉  Headed in *one* direction—towards the Kingdom.
– đź™…  Demanding no comfort—trusting God fully.
– 🤲  Surrendering *all* future plans—letting God define success.
🧴 7 Steps to Becoming a New Wineskin
# 1. Curing
*Salt water stage* – Softening the hard areas, cleansing the wounds of disappointment.
> Use your pain to develop *empathy*, not *bitterness*.
# 2. Soaking in Pure Water
Soak in the Word of God (Eph. 5:25-27) until it *washes out what doesn’t belong*.
# 3. Fleshing
Time for major cuts—removing flesh.
> Sanctification = Being set apart for God’s purpose.
You *can’t change the world by being like it*.
# 4. Unerring Process (in Lime)
This burns away *hidden flesh*.
> These are the fiery trials (1 Peter 1:7, 4:12) that *test and purify* us.
# 5. Scudding
A final, sharp blade removes even the thinnest layer of flesh.
> Even a little flesh will *rot the wineskin*.
> “Cleanse yourselves of all defilement…” – 2 Cor. 7:1
# 6. Bathing in Oil
Holy Spirit oil = *stretching and softening.*
> Gifts are given. Fruit is grown.
> We’re not just called to believe—we’re called to *bear fruit*.
# 7. Drying (Desert Season)
The wilderness is not wasted time.
> The shelf may feel lonely, but it’s where *legacy is built.*
> Worship in the wilderness (Ex. 7:16) just like in Canaan.
🛑 If You Skip the Process…
You might *look* like a wineskin, but you won’t hold the wine.
> The wine will take on the flavor of *the flesh,* not of *the Spirit.*
> Only when we fully surrender does Christ’s aroma come through.
# 🧴 Final Word: Be a Vessel, Not a Voice from the Shelf
Wherever you are—serve.
Whether you’re in the fire, the oil, or the shelf—let God shape you.
Because *new wine* is coming.
And God is looking for vessels ready to hold it.
